I wasn't inferring anything. You can take it however you wish but your reaction sounds like mens rea to me..

And since you want to make a big deal about it, I was a PAYING member long before the switch was announced. I was going to do a stream a while ago with an old scanner, but then my town went digital and it took me a while to buy a second digital scanner. My decision to do so was not affected by the broadcastify deal in the least.

Sent from my Galaxy SII using some Tappity Talkity thing.

As for database importing the best solution is FreeSCAN using the EZ-Grab feature. It does wonders and is a helluva lot easier for custom importing than vs directly from the database IMHO.
Well said I agree

I have to agree all the with Gordon these gacts he stated to
me is why I use the app for my android. The live feeds is the
reason we have em because there ate many who CAN'T afford
scanners so to have this is the best thing going.

Easy decision for me as well. I do my feed for friends and family that live out of the area so that they can listen to what's going on "back home". And for myself when I'm away and something major is going on. Anybody else that wanders in aside from them to check out the insanity is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned. I've done a feed twice on my own in the past and when it was requested that I restart it a 3rd time I figured this was the perfect place to do so.

With the subscription to RR going away I don't give 2 flying fruit roll ups about it. Never had one before I did the feed and don't plan on paying for it anytime in the foreseeable future. But the access I'll get to Broadcastify for having a feed? Now that will be perfect. I'm one that will be thrilled to have that and will use that quite a bit. Count me as one of the ones that loves the change.

Thumbs down Dear Admin

Dear radio reference admins,

I joined radio reference because I wanted to listen to the feed in my hometown, Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Now your change over has caused my feed provider to quit providing this feed. this makes radio reference unusable to me and I am very disappointed that you are not willing to invest in the people who make this website and success. Just give them what they want because they are the ones providing the feeds.

Why are ppl mad about the change to Broadcastify??

What did RR used to not charge you HOSTING FEES and now the 3rd party host now is?? (That is not RR's fault, most companies (Especially in the US) are greedy idiots who only want $$$$$)

You should all be glad that RR did not charge you hosting fee's when they did it themselves (They very easily could have)

I might be way off the issue here but im assuming this is it....

Broadcastify.com (not a third-party site) isn't charging any sort of hosting fees and is also not charging anyone to listen, we still provide free feed hosting and allow everyone to listen for free.

KB I think honestly that you have jumped the gun and over stepped your boundaries and here is what I'm going to say

1. I see that you act so much of the little boy who cried wolf once to many times

2. You have kept hownding too much.

3. The other feed providers are still here and it's NOT a third party.

4. I think you should be suspended or banned from posting till you are willing to come full circle of what others said.

5. Also can you copy the 9 messages that said this? If not then you don't have a case

I have heard from 9 other feed providers now through email and PM that are going dark on October 14th.

The sticking point that these people are whining about is that stream providers got a free premium subscription to RR - which includes direct download access to the database. With Broadcastify being split off into a separate company with separate financials, there is no longer a way for RR to include that free database access, and that is why a couple loudmouths are flying off the handle. (AustinP that was mainly directed at you - it's why the admins can't "just give them what they want")

Basically they are complaining that the Broadcastify free premium subscription that they will be getting instead is worthless to them, so they are pulling their feeds in protest. Except that most of us that do feeds were already paying the $30/year ($2.50/mo) for the database access anyway. We weren't doing the feeds to get the free access - which is why their complaints and empty threats of boycott are so ridiculous. In all honesty my purpose for putting up the stream is totally selfish - it's so that I can listen to what's going on in town on my phone, whether I'm home/within range or not. Even when I'm home the phone is more convenient than lugging a scanner around. I honestly don't care if I ever have someone else listening.

(By the way, there are currently 3,339 feeds online - the most there has ever been)

Ok guys, the changeover has been made. Time to move on and be family again within RR. Use the database here or go over and listen to feeds on Broadcastify but its time to settle down and start enjoying the hobby once again whatever your choice has been to do. Just sayin ....
