Now it comes out that the off duty cop who came to assist is a Taxidermist.

Dispatching it would mean that they sent it on another call or dispatched it in a cab to pick up a family at the Marriott going to Red Lobster. Or, perhaps the cops dispatched the Elk to another call for an Elk on the loose, which would be appropriate, yet redundant and a conflict of interest.

Now "Despatching" dispatch verb (KILL) - definition in British English Dictionary & Thesaurus - Cambridge Dictionary Online the Elk is quite another story.

I think that investigators might be overlooking the obvious. Perhaps the LEO who Despatched the Elk was ALSO an Elk. Ah Ha! Now we are getting somewhere. That's Elkicide.

Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then, my friend, we have quite another story here. He was sworn to protect Elks, yet he either dispatched the Elk OR despatched the Elk. That is for us to determine through further discussion and investigation and at least 4 more pages of posts.

If you happen to come upon an Elk, try to recycle. It's almost Super Bowl Sunday, so you could make a huge hit with this:

I suggest a Pinot Noir.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything.

Yes. You did miss something. It's game... you should serve a Cabernet.

See if I ever eat elk at YOUR house. Humph.

Ah, another twist in the story...

"Big Game" for the "Big Game". Now why didn't I think of that?! Maybe there was a motive.

The elk wasn't shot; he was just feeling a bit run down.

Default RD, that elk

may have "...feeling a bit run down.", but having it at dinner time with RIPPLE is by far tasty!

Boulder officers arrested, accused of plotting 'trophy' kill of Mapleton elk

"But according to an arrest affidavit, cell phone records obtained from phone carriers for Carter, Curnow and George show the shooting was premeditated. In the texts, Carter can be seen referring to the elk as early as 2:56 a.m. Jan. 1 -- almost 20 hours before the shooting."

Duh, cell phone carriers archive data.
