The freeway was closed because of a wild police chase that ended when the suspect rolled his Toyota Corolla near 8 Mile. He then ran up the embankment and disappeared into a nearby neighborhood.

Police say the suspect was involved in an undercover drug deal that went bad. They say he ran from the scene after pulling a gun on an officer. A gun was found in the car when officers searched it.

The suspect, who is in his 20s, was captured at about 9:00 p.m. in a park near where his car crashed. Officers used canine units and a helicopter to track him down. MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Action News is on the scene at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center where a shooting has taken place inside the hospital's emergency room.

Hospital officials say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Apparently a prisoner, accompanied by a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy, was being prepped in the ER when he grabbed a sharp instrument and began wielding it as a weapon.

The deputy reportedly then shot the prisoner. It is not known if the prisoner survived or is now being treated for his wound.

A briefing headed by Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel is scheduled to be held shortly.

Authorities have closed Gratiot Boulevard and have begun evacuating nearby homes and businesses.

Firefighters are in a defensive posture, working to keep the fire from spreading from the plant filled with tanks of flammable and explosive gases. Firefighters are worried about a lack of hydrant water pressure in the area.

(WXYZ) - Action News has learned that a police officer and a suspect have been shot in Plymouth Township.

According to Action News' Dennis Neubacher aboard Chopper 7, the shooting occurred at Wireless U.S.A., a cell phone store in a strip mall near Ann Arbor Road and Lilly Road.

There is no word on the conditions of the officer or the suspect. Both were taken to a local hospital.
