HAM channels.. or anything else that may be slipping my mind at this moment. Air ambulance... I think around here I always hear them on patient information channels? I looked around quite a bit but have had no luck locating anything on this topic.

Are they getting rejected and its just not letting me know, or are they vanishing into the pits of Internet hell never to be seen or heard from again?

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question but I am new to scanning as well as feed providing! I am currently using an older cheap scanner (BC350a) to scan a number of channels from two different agencies. Everything is working out ok so far but I am running into a problem that one agency's broadcast comes across much louder on their two channels then the other agencies channels. Since my scanner is very basic I was wondering if there was a software solution (Windows Vista) to equalize the volume of the transmissions for my feed. I am currently using oddcast for my feed but would be open to other clients as well. I have found some plugins for WinAmp, but they seem to be geared to streaming music and end up making the silence between transmissions into loud static. I am looking for a free solution, I don't have much to spend, and the difference is bearable enough to listen to. I would just like to and have my listeners be able to listen to my feed without having to adjust the volume constantly.

I am setting up my feed (Clark County WA) on a dedicated computer and have an audio problem. I use ScannerCast to send audio to RR. The new feed computer is a Dell Optiplex SX260 running XP Pro. I can hear the feed fine locally on this pc, but when I try to listen online from my main computer, all I hear is the initial audio thump and no streaming content. It sounds like it's trying to get through, but never makes it. The audio from the scanner goes into the line input on the feed computer's onboard sound card. Any ideas?

I had to put the feed back on my main pc till I get this fixed.

So far I've only been able to record one or the other, I"m finding that the recording software only wants to record from the "default" sound card. Also I currently use NCH Recordpad and you can change the recording device with that program but unfortunately you can't run more than one instance of it.

I am experiencing a problem where the feed is going offline often. This is a new installation of a feed, and, haven't had consistent operation with this feed yet.

The source is an Ubuntu Linux 8.04 LTS server using darkice 0.19.

It will not stay online for more that about 80 minutes before RR reports it offline.

It will come back online itself without any human intervention.

I've done some research in the forums and FAQs and wiki for troubleshooting steps, but, I haven't been able to find anything.

And, I don't see any logging that takes place on the source side for darkice.

I have a few ideas (firewall/router expiring the TCP session, etc) but, I'd like to get more information before wasting too much effort.

In general, does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting? Does anyone have any idea how to determine why it goes offline? Does RR have any other methods for troubleshooting?

My leading theories are,
1) bad firewall/router at the source end
2) problem with the source machine (rebooting, failing, etc)
3) problem with the broadband connection beyond the source firewall/router

I tend to doubt suggestion 2, as, the machine is actively performing other network/broadband work, and, has not had a problem with such for the two months it has been running.

Any and all help from the community would be greatly appreciated

Hey all. I've been searching & searching to no avail, so now I'll just ask.

I have a new scanner feed. 396T through Oddcast to RR.com. Easy breezy, audio is working fine.

I now want to send tags. I figured out how to capture the tags showing in the Freescan virtual scanner and send them as metadata to Oddcast. They are showing up just fine in the Oddcast metadata window and changing when the TG changes. Good so far.

Problem is this. How do I get my tags to come through my feed? If I can see them in my Oddcast, shouldn't I easily be able to send them through my feed? Maybe I just need to click a couple of things and I'll be set.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

The biggest issues with the V2F software is it can't be told to record in any format other than wave. It says you can, but it don't say how & none of the controls allow changes. if anyone has any knowledge of How to make it record in MP3, I would appreciate any kind of head up.

Another issue is it likes to record the audio files in it's own program directory, not any kind of subdirectory, and like the VRS that we tried before it, it saves all the files in the same directory. We'd ideally like it to create a directory tree for year>Month>Day so all the files for one day are in a directory of their own. stuff will be a lot easier to find that way... like GeoVision Does.

Does anyone know how to contact or send feedback to the developers of V2F?
I might have to write a VB program to crate these directories and move files where they belong. I have to wait 'till I get MY machine again working in order to have access to the VB development environment.
