Hi Folks,
Was stumbling through the Service Search frequencies of my bcd396xt (I still can't figure how to program it properly!) when I came accross some members of a law enforcement surveillance team in my area chatting. These guys were exhibiting terrible radio discipline - calling themselves and other officers by first and last name, naming suspects and giving their location by naming streets by real name.
Clearly they thought they were on a secure network. It made for really interesting listening, especially because I knew the area they were in.
My question is, do I post the frequency in the appropriate area forum so other can enjoy it? If I post it, I worry that the officers will find out they are not on a secure net and change to one that is. Given their employer, I am sure they have the ability to do so.
Discussion?
Thanks,

I bought a BC346XT and downloaded Proscan. I love it!! But I have an audio question that could be Proscan or Windows Vista. I've connected the scanner's headphone to the laptop's external mic, and everything is recording fine. But I can't output the recording sound to the laptop's speakers or headphone. I have to click on each recording when it's done and listen to the playback. I know I could split the scanner's output to go both to external speakers and the laptop, but that seems like a clumsy solution. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

I received my new BC346XT a few hours ago and I must say I'm very impressed (which is probably not hard to do since it's my first trunking scanner).

I live in Garland, TX (a suburb of Dallas), and I was glad to see the pre-built sites for both Dallas, Garland, and other surrounding areas. I'm simply agog that I'm hearing all of Dallas as clearly as I am.

However, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the rebanding set up for Garland (apparently this changed very recently). I'm reading over the Bearcat page on creating a custom site, and I have what I presume is the base frequency for Garland, but I can't quite grasp how I know what the offset it, what the step is (I'm assuming either 25k or 50k based on the differences on the RR list), and what the skip should be. I've tried simply plugging in the new control channels into the prebuilt-site, but unsurprisingly I'm not getting anything since they seem to have rebanded.

I've tried using Bearcat's Excel worksheet, but I seem to be missing some fundamental information.
If anyone can take a quick look and give me some guideance, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks!

The scanner is recognized by Mr. Scanner/ScanSoft Lite and the Free Scan software and the default frequencies and Quick Keys (QK) are displayed in the Trunking view mode.
When I power the radio on it stays on the Alaska System (1), and I am unable to select any other Systems or Quick Keys from the radio keypad

Hello to all.

I have been listening to scanners since the late 1980's and I finally upgraded to a new Uniden BCT15X last week.

I have programmed Motorola two way radios (conventional) for years. Never have I seen anything like the BCT15X.

Anyways, I have a Volusia County, FL (S.E. Volusia County) Law Enforcement live feed here on this web site. I went "online" yesterday and it works with a slight delay.

I am new to "hosting" a scanner online, so I don't know if the audio is supposed to be that low on the internet....or is that normal?

I am running ARC-XT PRO with the radio. Without a factory paper hardcopy manual, programming the BCT15X is nearly impossible to program by hand.

Please have a listen to my feed and tell me if it sounds okay. If anyone has any audio tips/tricks, please let me know.

Thanks everyone.

They transmit the sound using a fm frequency. Untill now I have used several ICom scanners to recieve the transmitted sound and then I connect it to a recording device. But now I would like to use multiple collars at the same time.
I would there for like to know if it there are (preferably handheld) scanners that can receive multiple fm frequencies at the same time and even better would be if it could record it.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Ok, so I'm pretty new to scanning and such. My dad had an old motorola handheld we used at car races, and that was a blast. A year or 2 ago my uncle gave me an old 16-channel bearcat that I messed with until it broke. Anyway, I recently bought an old Radioshack/Realistic Pro-2022 off ebay. It's older, but it works fine.

Now I am trying to listen to the local DPS radio system. They use an EDACS TRS for their radios, and I have a conventional scanner. I know how to listen to a Trunked system on a conventional scanner, but the EDACS system has 5 beeps at the end of each transmission when the radio is keyed off.

I've done some research, and I have heard that there are devices you can get which identify the beeps and return it to conventional scanning when it detects them, called GE-wizz or something of the sort. Now I haven't the foggiest idea where to find/how to make a device like this, I've done some searching on GE-wizz, but so far no luck.

I know the easiest thing would be to just buy a trunktracking scanner capable of following an EDACS system, but I'm a college student and can't really afford something like that right now. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have my scanner setup and working pretty good...weeeee after my head stop spinning from all the details to learn, but I had to add two freq into it that my job uses, Heslep Concrete 461.8500 (Little Rock area) and 466.8500 (Searcy area) not listed in the data base. I left the modulation set to auto, because I wasn't sure what it is. I noticed on all the downloaded freq they actually set fm, nfm etc...what are the advantages or disadvantages to setting the mod as opposed to leaving it in auto. They work just fine in auto.

Also who do I contact about adding freq to the data base here at RR. Thanks

I learned how to record our department’s transmissions some time ago and use them on our website because of the information found here. Now that we have been pretty successful at that I have been toying with the idea of streaming. I’m pretty sure you guys know something about that.
My background consists of a low budget op run out of my den with an old radio shack PRO-2026. My Realistic Pro-2021 fried 2 nights ago.
I’ll save all the bandwidth and programming questions for later. Now its all about thanks for the information.

Hi all,

A long time ago, I used to really enjoy scanning as a hobby...like many here probably started, I still remember my old bearcat with crystals and row of red lights on the front. :) I have a few 800mhz scanners around that until a few weeks ago I'd have considered "fairly new" , yeah, I've been out of it that long...

Anyhow, got the bug again when I came across one of my 800mhz scanners,, did a lot of research (how I found this place), and ended up getting my new PSR-500 delivered today!

...and I would have been completely overwhelmed had it not been for spending the last week or so, from the time I placed the order, to today, reading the forums here and studying hard to figure it all out. What an amazing resource, you guys are awesome. Gladly paid the 1 year registration so I could see the databases for my area and sort of piece it all together.

Also found great references and support for programmable software here, settled on Win500, and used the downloadable feature to access my account here, and I've got my trunking scanner listening to all kinds of stuff!! The subscription to RR and the Win500 registration are some of the best money I've ever spent, makes this so much more enjoyable to use and learn!

Huge special thanks to the gentleman who put together the Win500 tutorial on UtahRadio!! You, sir, are a God. :) :) Couldn't have done it nearly as smoothly without ya, and there's a LOT more to soak in, but that tutorial got me going in minutes!!

And a huge thanks to the admins of the databases for my area!!! I assume it's you who make all these tags relevant that I see as I'm scanning.

I'm obviously pretty stoked about the new scanner and getting it up so quickly, but there's soooo much more I want to learn and know...I'm now grasping the "rebanding" and how it's affecting my area...looks like they're just waiting to throw the switch from others' posts, but I don't quite get it all yet....more reading! :)

Glad I found you all, this makes getting back into a hobby I've always loved possible. If ya see me in the other forum areas, take it easy on a newb, will ya? :)
