Hi all,

Is it 'normal' for an Impres charger to go through the charging cycle repeatedly despite the battery not being removed from the charger or depleted (by having it on a powered-on radio) or etc.? I've always noticed this behavior on my XTS3000's charger - drop in the battery (or battery+radio), it will charge with a solid red LED, top-off with a flashing green LED, and be complete with a solid green LED. If I don't take that battery/radio out of the charger, I can come back some time later to find it either solid red or flashing green once more, as if it is repeating the charge cycle. Is this just Motorola's way of keeping the battery healthy, or is this charger not working properly? It would strike me that repeated charging/discharging of a battery would shorten its life, not lengthen it. Furthermore, if the battery is showing solid red (charging), despite having shown solid green (fully charged) previously, am I going to have a battery with a partial charge if it's red when I go to use it?

Hi Guys,

Hope I'm posting in the right area. I have a Motorola GP68 radio and have purchased two HSN6001B speakers which I would like to connect to it. The speakers have a double pin connection (looks similar to a molex connector on a PC I would guess).

I would like to run these two speakers off my Motorola radio and as you would know (if you are aware of the GP68's connections) it has a single 3.5mm Mono output.

Is there a way to get these two connected to each other and hooked up to the radio?
I'm fairly confident with soldering etc so hooking the two speakers together and connecting them onto a single 3.5mm mono cable would be no worries. I'm just unsure as to which wire is what as I can't see any obvious markings. Any advice or help here would be appreciated.

Also finally I think I would definitely need to extend the amount of length of cable (current wire length is approx. 80cm). Is it a simple case of just soldering an extra length on or is this going to reduce the sound quality? Again any advice would be appreciated.

Thankyou in advance to any help.
Much appreciated.
Mostly it would be RX only while I drive to the station or at home monitoring, but occasionally want to be able to TX on the fire frequencies as well as an operating unit. I have looked around at all these options and found the GP68 a nice little 5W VHF, field programmable radio, but coming from good ol' Hong Kong. Should I stay away from these or would this be ok for what I want to use it for. I want to be practical about it, but at the same time I dont' want to be doing anything to get myself into huge trouble.

Thanks for any advice...sorry for the dumb question

This is kinda strange on my UHF GP300, randomly when im talking, its fine on the other end but when RX, its loud and clear and few seconds later or randomly, the audio goes down so low i have to put it up to my ear to hear it then it blasts loudly. This never happened before the first day i got it THUS it was a used GP300 radio when i first got it on a Band Swap at another shop, so really I guess i did not know the previous history of it, what the previous users used it for "normally just TX/RX on rented Freqs"

Not sure what could be wrong but i may end up chunking it or taking it by the shop later today and see what they can determine what could be causing the audio to go in and out, bad speaker mic connectors or something? something else that could be wrong with the board or could it just be something totally different.

I haven't YET to find out whats wrong with it, so im pretty much missing out on the action or not being able to RX properly, my last option was to just trash it or unless someone can check it, do an alignment, testing and see whats wrong and if its just that bad, the trash is the next place it will go.

Looking at a radio for in my car for a while, was considering just getting a portable, but I found a deal on a CDM750. Obviously it is 4 channels, nothing super complex.

If I want to put a channel in for TX/RX, do I need anything other than the Input Frequency, the Receive Frequency and the PL Code (ie. information I can copy and paste right out of the database)

What about RX only? Do I just need the RX frequency?

The person I am looking at purchasing it from can program it, I just need to figure out what information to give them.

Hi,
I have a Mororola XTS-5000 and was wondering how to tell what firmware and/or flashcode version is in it without hooking up a computer or programmer of some sort. Is there some trick like hold a certain button down while turning it on or something. Thanks
