I just heard on the Cape County Sheriff's frequency a digital signal. There was a digital signal and then the patrol unit came back in the clear and called dispatch and said that he did not copy. Then the digital signal repeated, but this time it was longer. Cape County is normally an open analog voice channel - this is the first time that I have heard this AFAIK. I wonder if they are starting to use some type of encryption or do they have digital capability? Does anyone have any additional details or is in range to monitor the frequency to confirm what they are using?

All,

I used to be able to pick up SLMPD and STLFD EMS on my Uniden BCD396XT. I utilize ScanNow to program the scanner and had the programming in under P25. I could pick up the frequencies after the initial switch to digital, but now cannot pick anything up. Any thoughts or sugggestions?

I was thinking about getting a digital scanner but, seems there is less & less all the time worth listening to. The city police now goes to tac. for the things most people want to hear or, even cell phones. I have a Uniden bct15, Radio Shack Pro163 and a handheld pro 162 all Analog. Any more, they are starting to seem like paper weights therefore I sure can't see investing 5 or $600.00 for digital when, all scanners may wind up as paper weights one of these days for homeland security reasons. There really isn't any Analog trunking to speak of in these areas. Are there many of you good people out there running Digital scanners? if so, are you finding any digital frequencies any where around these areas? I'd really like to have a nice digital base but, sure can't see buying one if, the air waves are quiet, on digital frequencies. any input is appreciated! Thanks.
