I thought Cranbrook was going to the Open Sky system, but it appears 424.950MHz is still in use. However, there is no voice, but rather data sounds. I don't think the data sound is digital voice either, but rather some kind of control data. It isn't a constant signal. Did they go to something like TRBO and this is a "beacon signal" being sent out by the controller to determine what radios are in range, etc?

My current (and second) Uniden BC92XLT has broken on me. I am in the market for a new scanner. I am an amateur listener from Bay City and was just going to spring for the RS Pro-164. Although after some research I have found that Saginaw is currently switching over to digital and word is Bay City may be changing also.

I also travel to Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor and Detroit frequently. What scanner would best suit me? I am assuming a digital? This is probably a stupid question but digital scanners will also cover analog correct? So I can still observe Bay City?

Is there anyone currently looking to sell a digital handheld?

Using the TwoToneDetect software, I've set up a system that will automatically email you any fire dispatches for a few Lansing-area agencies.

Delta Twp Station 1 & 3
Delta Twp All-Call
Grand Ledge Fire
Grand Ledge All-Call
Lansing Twp Station 51
Lansing Twp Chiefs

If the tones are detected, it records the next 30 seconds and sends out the recording as an attachment. Anyone interested is free to drop me a PM or email, letting me know which of the above you want and what email addresses (regular email or cellphone work fine) and I'll add you to the list!

As an FYI, the way I set it up personally is to send the St1/St3/GL Fire/St51 alerts to my regular email, then Delta Allcall, GLFD All-Call, and Lansing Twp Chiefs to both my regular email and my cellphone.

If you don't want alerts between 11:30pm and 7:30am let me know that too and I'll add that particular address (i.e. it can send to your regular email but stop sending to your cell) to the "do not send overnight" part.
Prisoner transfer from MN to MI ? The antennas coaught my eye first, there was not an 800 antenna on the vehicle. From I94 they could get to the UP or the LP depending on a turn at Eau Claire, WI.

I live very close to Sterling Heights (Troy) and would like to listen to their police/fire radio transmissions. I am listening with a Pro 96 and I use Win96/RR to import frequencies and program it.

I am not sure which "Channels" I have to select when I'm using the RR frequency import method. I currently have all of the Sterling Heights Talkgroups (from the MPSCS) but I'm not sure which channels to use since I ONLY want to hear Sterling Heights PD/FD out of this particular scanner. Should I be using Mt. Clemens (868.400 and 868.900) or should I use Macomb County (868.2625 and 868.9875) or neither?

Right now I seem to be hearing a lot of stuff from Roseville/Shelby Township. If anyone can critique my file or offer suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Dan

The reason i moved it over to IBN is you can page out incidents over there.

I live in Oakland County, and I'm getting a digital scanner for Christmas. I'd like to know what is the best one. I don't live in the middle of nowhere. I'd like to pick up Oakland County, Waterford, West Bloomfield, and surrounding areas. I currently own a Pro-96, but I want a digital so I don't have to keep scanning to pick up the rest of the transmission. If anyone lives in a county like mine that has good transmission and clarity, give me a suggestion please. Thank you!
