Default Greensboro, NC Federal UHF

I'm hearing what sound like simplex communications on the following frequencies near downtown Greensboro on:

409.7375 Analog w/PL in the clear

407.5375 Analog/wPL in the clear

I don't have my laptop with me, but if I recall correctly the PL was 110.9.

Anyone have any ideas? Federal Courthouse security?

Fed. Courthouse security is doubtful since that is performed by the U.S. Marshals and they usually operate on VHF. Are you sure that these frequencies might not be part of a trunked system?

Never been to Greensboro and no nothing about it but here is my scientific wild assed guess (SWAG).

Googling those two frequencies reflect USPS use in various parts of the country. As nuanced confirmation, 110.9 and 107.2 are also common USPS tones. So based on that, could it be United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Facility at
3701 W Wendover Ave Greensboro, NC 27495?

Also appears they might have Postal Inspectors Offices on site there. Their phone number is (336) 855-4242.

Regards,
Mike

That makes excellent sense actually... I was thinking they were simplex, but a low power repeater might reach from the bulk mail facility (which is huge) to downtown...

Thanks!

I did a little bit more monitoring today in my spare time and found the following:

409.7375 - R - 107.2 Does sound like the Bulk Mail Facility, sounded like a warehouse in the background.

407.5375 - R - 162.2 Also sounds like the Bulk Mail Facility, talking about problems at Dock 25.

406.9375 - R - 192.8 There wasn't enough traffic to determine what this one was. Very Weak.

170.750 - R - Sounds like either Encryption or Data

172.725 - R - Sounds like either Encryption or Data

Also heard data on the following:
168.2625
168.1875
168.1375
169.9625
409.1875
164.2750

I heard very brief and very weak transmissions on the following in downtown Greensboro:

168.0125
171.4375
169.2500

for those 400 Mhz channels, you should find the input at +9 Mhz

the 170.750 is most likely going to be US Marshals
They have just put a repeater up in Lexington KY on that FREQ with a NAC of 293, 100% Enc so far

170.750 is USMS here in Raleigh as well. It's very active during the afternoon here.

Update:

I heard voice traffic on 172.725 here in Greensboro today...

"311 do you copy?" in Analog mode, sounded like someone at a console.

"311, I copy" in P25 Digital

I don't think that the blue ridge parkway would be coming in clear all the way in Greensboro, but that's what it was labeled as in my radio.
