Sure looks like a Bureau of Prisons trunked system. Notice the resemblance.

Sure does look similar. Well, looks like I might have two prisons right on the fringe to listen to. This one and 4B1D in another post.

This is is entirely too quiet though. Not much fun to listen to.

Updated. Band plan that I had doesn't seem to work - when I try to enter the band plan into my 396, it says the base frequency of 405.6625 is out of band (offset 380 / step 12.5).

Saw an error in the channel IDs I monitored. Recalculated and hopefully this is correct info.

System ID: CA17
System Type: Motorola Type II VHF/UHF
Connect Tone: 116.3 hz
Signal: Normal

Base: 406 (thought it was 405.6625)
Offset: 407 (thought it was 380)
Step: 12.5 kHz

Ch ID Frequency
dec/hex (in MHz)

587 / 24B 408.250
632 / 278 408.8125
759 / 2F7 410.400

TGIDs heard: 64

Unable to determine identity at this time. Not much traffic on this system.

Try this:
Base: 406.8125
Spacing: 12.5
Offset: 380

See what happens.

Thank you. But that is not the proper one - That is for the prison system you told me about before, and it is different for this one. Wayne_H gave me the equation to use to figure out what to do in the event that the base freq goes below 406. Here is what he had to say: http://www.radioreference.com/forums...ad.php?t=61419

So I believe the information above is correct at this time.

I would be surprised that it would have a base lower than 406. I don't know what the abilities of most UHF trunking transceivers are but I always thought they would be limited to 406-420 in that range. Oh well -- let us know what else you find out.

In the scanner the base is 406 with an offset of 407 (instead of the default 380). Computed base is below 406 - However, Wayne had posted an equation to use to set the proper base in the scanner for those times when a computed base is less than 405. So the scanner base is 406 and the offset is changed... rather than using the 405.xxxx base and 380 offset.

I don't have much hope of reporting anything further for this system though - since there is never any traffic on it. All day today there was one hit on one talk group and I wasn't around to catch it.

Notice my update above - The system is digital. I can't tell if its analog/digital mix or if they are running strictly digital. There definitely is P25 data on it, but its not a strict P25 System. It is Motorola.

Also, there definitely is some encryption on this system. There is a lot more activity on this system now than there was a month ago too.
