Default Manatee County Frequencies

Is there any way that I can only scan fire/ems and not police? Also, does East Manatee Fire Rescue use same EDAC frequencies as the rest of the county? I never hear them. If you need to contact me, email me at

It's in the database. Try checking there next time before you search.

Post Manatee Co FL Intelegence Report to all interested

while having a beer over the weekend with a trusted friend I was told that manatee co is "possibly"--"POSSIBLY" looking to get on Sarasota county's system in light of harris stopping support of the EDACS system to save having to buy a stand alone system of their own.

Sarasota is building a new com center and manatee might be looking to get in it..."or so I was told" and it makes sense...why buy a system of your own when you can get on a close existing system, BPD, LBK, PPD did it, why not do it on a countywide basis and save the taxpayers half the cost long term BUT...what happens when Sarasota's system becomes "obsolete" like manatee's? then 2 counties will be stuck with a messed up system that cant be scanned

personally I say that public monitoring is essential but law enforcement would have you believe that bad guys having scanners lets them know what they are doing BUT I would always ask how many criminals have been arrested with a "police scanner" in their possession?" and if its such an epidemic, why don't you use the existing laws to enhance the charges? Its 20 years on a person who has a police scanner while committing a crime, how come I never hear about that?

the truth is that LE simply does not want the public knowing what they are doing (especially in real time) and in terms of secure systems to prevent scanner buffs (and the public) from listening, they are the prime benefactors of secure systems because larger events like fires cant be hidden from public knowledge (they cant trunk the smoke yet). and based on the cost, EMS and Fire really get no real "radio" upgrades and to completely cutoff the public is public relations suicide because when they say they need more money for this and that, the uninformed public gets to say...."what for, you guys don't do anything"

Default Manatee County Florida Edacs

The migration path from EDACS to P25 is pretty simple and fairly inexpensive (a relative term). It is possible to migrate by simply replacing the network core and site controllers.
