Default Pinellas Co. and 700mhz

Was scanning 700 last night and heard Pinellas Co. between 794.00-795.00
Was told that Pin. Co. will be going to a 700/800 system like Lake Co.

I am unfamiliar with this so had a few questions if anyone could answer them.
Basically what do I need to do to get it set up on my GRE500. Anyone can explain or point out a website that explains how the system works?

Any and all info appreciated. I am unfamiliar with such a system and looking to learn and get the scanner setup properly.

I successfully monitored the Lake County 700MHz system with my Uniden 396T by programming it as a basic P25 trunked system using the data from the data base. No special settings required.

Appreciate it the info. Gonna try setting up a scan list in my GRE500 using the new freqs I found.

Default 700

The repeater outputs per the bandplan on the lower end 764-772, and the mobile unput side is +30mhz.

You're probably hearing an image, or possibly intermod? Maybe youre hearing only the mobile side?

I haven't found in control channels in that range, but there appears to be some type of simulcast of the pinellas motorola trunked calls in that range. Not sure what it is, and I don't get good reception of it.

Don't know about new systems. The link below indicates something in the budget with federal grants to improve interoperability in various Florida regions. I don't hear anything on the P25 system.

http://www.ntia.doc.gov/psic/IJ/fl.pdf

Region 4: Tampa Bay Region, 700 MHz Overlay
and P25 Technology Migration for
Multi-regional Interoperability
Federal Amount:
$ 6,951,290
Non-Federal Match Amount:
$ 2,115,823
Total Project Cost:
$ 9,067,113
100%* Acquisition & Deployment
0% Training & Exercise
0% Planning & Coordination
*Percentages include both Federal and non-Federal Match funds.
Region 4 (Gulf Coast of Florida) currently utilizes multiple disparate radio systems, which impedes direct interoperability between agencies. The existing systems throughout Region 4 are at various stages of migration to P25 and 700/800 MHz technology. The Tampa Bay UASI and Region 4 of the Florida Domestic Security Task Force have developed a multi-year plan to migrate all public safety agencies to P25 standards-based technology and implement 700 MHz mutual aid channels throughout the Region, thereby facilitating communications on a common platform to achieve Statewide interoperability and enable mutual aid. This Investment includes the addition of an overlay of four, three-channel, 700 MHz sites to the existing Pinellas County System. It also includes the purchase and installation of a P25 GPS simulcast control point, timing synchronization equipment for Hillsborough County’s system, replacement radios or upgrades for existing user radios to P25 and 700 MHz capable technology in Citrus County, and the purchase and installation of an eight-channel, P25 700/800 MHz overlay for the Polk and Hardee County System. This project provides significant advances in the implementation of P25 and 700 MHz technology for daily operations and multi-jurisdictional response throughout the Region and further enhances the interoperable capabilities of projects that are being implemented in the Tampa Bay UASI.

I am using a PSR500, it shows the freq when I monitor the Pin. Co. system. Do not see anything in the 700 range when it picks up transmissions after my programming attempt.

Funny thing is this.
There are some freqs that you hear control channel "noise" just like on the Pin. 800 system.
Then there is a freq that emits sounds similar to that of the EDACS system in Hills. or Clearwater. Also some voice that has that distinctive beeping follow voice just like the EDACS systems.
Is it a simulcast as stated above?
I will have to look into it further, but I am not well versed in the whole matter as many others on the forums.

Pretty sure i've heard the same transmission on the pinellas mot II system and in the 795 range at the same time with two scanners, as well as the cc noise and edacs beeps. i don't know enough about these things either! maybe a public safety simulcast like macdill has for tampa pd?

Could be, but then why the cc noise?
I belong to a google group that has members that actually work for pin. co. and one of them said they will be switching to the 700-800.
I had also seen a powerpoint document that gave a general overview about 700mhz being introduced into the pin system but I got the impression it was mainly to do with data transferring, so they would have internet type operation and speeds for accessing info and/or sharing same between agencies, even pd to fd.
maybe this is testing phase?

Very interesting.... 791-792 range is Hillswborough's West site, and 794 range is pinellas mot II (digital voice sounds much better here than on the 800 system, though), at least today. Sounds like a lot of trunking going on. So far the trunking software doesn't recognize the "trunking noise" as control channelc, neither do the scanners. Well, maybe testing simulcast before migration? Who knows where the tax payer dollar goes!

there's another stpetepd rebroadcast at 325.6875 and 329.8625. briefly, 775.8625 showed as a cc for a motorola system called "pinellas", with a quick communication but only saw it once over the weekend.

Once in a great while, you post something useful (like the TFR freq). Instead of junk like the above, why don't you try and post something actually worth reading? People here are not mind readers. If you don't care to elaborate on your posts, don't waste our time by having us read junk that doesn't really say anything.

Not trying to be a jerk, but it's really getting old....

Sorry King of the Florida forum lol. Maybe i cant talk about the changes or just dont want to start a uproar. People are on the right track with what is going on. I will say this Pinellas is moving to full P-25. They already have the radio`s.
