Volusia County - ECM channels?

ECM - As in Electronic Counter Measures. Couple of weeks ago, you couldn't scan either system, as group 293 (IIRC) was broadcasting static (or white noise... or whatever). This lasted for about two weeks. When I came back from Homestead, I decided to try again. I could listen for a couple of hours, but then the 293 would come back blasting static.

Has anyone ever heard of radio networks doing this to just thwart scanner users, or was there possibly a rogue transmitter out there, or a malfunctioning radio.

It shows that 293 is Volusia County Fire/EMS Tac 5...

Anyone? It did it again last night, but I don't remember the talkgroup.... it originally was 0293.

I sometimes have this happen to me and I have to lock out the channel and then unlock any channels previously locked out. I don't know why this happens.

Last night, the "ECM" group was 1178. I don't know what it is, and usually I can listen in the evenings. It usually starts doing this about 1 AM or so.... (I was able to catch the fire in Debary last night.)

I just heard on fire radio that there has been a problem with TAC10 for the past two weeks and radio shop is working on finding the problem. Is that what you are inquring about?

That probably is what is wrong. It is group 0298. Sometimes it will come up, sometimes it won't. Regardless, it is a royal pain in the ass.
