Default good Marion and Lake County system reception

Greetings friends... I reside in Ocala. I mainly monitor Marion Sheriff, Fire Rescue and Ocala PD and Fire Rescue... I also enjoy monitoring the new Lake County digital trunked system which incorporates some frequencies in the 700 mhz band. I use a vehicle antenna and its made by Motorola. here is a link to an ebay item. I purchased this exact model number a while back and it works flawlessly. If you require an antenna on a vehicle for scanning purposes, and you monitor Marion, Ocala, and Lake Counties, this antenna will receive all 3 trunked systems with no problems, as long as your monitoring with-in this listening area. I know its hard to find a tuned antenna that incorporates the newer 700 mhz frequencies, so I thought that I would share this with you. I am not afiliated with this seller, just passing on info. But I have purchased from him in the past on more than one occassion, and they were all good experiences.

This Motorola NMO mount vehicle antenna is set for 764 to 870 mhz

Lake County operates on 769 to 853 mhz
Marion County operates on 851 to 853 mhz
City of Ocala operates on 852 to 860 mhz

Keep in mind that this NMO mount antenna requires you to drill a hole thru the metal to mount the antenna mounting base and coax wire... it will also need to be terminated with the propper connection to mate up with your scanner. I installed a BNC connector on the end of my coax, in order to connect the coax to my scanner device. NMO mounts are typically seen on the roof or trunk of a patrol car, or the roof of a fire truck or commercial use vehicle which utilizes 2 way radio communications equipt.

Thank you, I was in the market for something like this. I am currently using a BCD396XT and have had exceptional reception on a RS 800 MHz portable antenna, so i can only imagine what this will do!

Yes, great price too... if your looking for a good name brand (quality made) antenna for 700 and 800 mhz trunking systems, this antenna might just be what the doctor ordered. This was the same model antenna that was used on many patrol cars for quite some time, and is still currently in use by many agencies today. I own several of this same antenna, and they are built to last... they really pull in those trunked signals (anaolg AND digital)

Good luck to you, I hope you find what your looking for.

No drilling - or soldering - necessary if you use a mag mount with coax terminated with a BNC connector. The antenna element simply screws onto the NMO mag mount.

Lakeview Antennas in S.C. ( and other vendors who follow the hamfest circuit ) makes a good mount / coax package for use with antennas with an NMO mount. When not in use, store it away in the car or trunk.

Just for curiosity's sake, do you have a ham license?
