Default Florida Mil Comms

Greetings... what freq's do you suggest for me, to try to receive some Military Communications... I am in the City of Ocala area in Marion County. I have never been interested in scanning mil comms, but I would like to give it a try. Are there any very active freq's that I might be able to pick up w/ my discone on a 30 foor mast. Military Air refueling or anything? Where do I start.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Kevin

225.350 Primary
261.250
281.300
285.200
289.200
321.800
350.400

These are for the Pinecastle Range near Ocala. Often F-18s will come from a/c carriers and drop ordnance and then return to ship.

Avon Park AF Range farther south is hot right now. The annual Atlantic Strike Exercise is going on right now, with A-10Cs, B-1Bs, B-52Hs, F-16CJs, etc., etc., hitting targets. Try 292.200 for APAFR Range Control and see if you can pick 'em up (shouldn't have a problem being 30ft. up). 292.200 is just the check-in freq, and one of MANY freqs being used right now. Try 238.900 for AAR (air-to-air refueling) boom comms.

If you really get into MilCom, try this group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FloridaMilcom

Also try 311.000, 321.000, 372.200. These are check-in freqs for many Air Force bases, which include MacDill AFB and Patrick AFB within your listening range.

Default Florida Mil comms

Kevin, here is another Yahoogroup & a military frequency website that you can add to BOLT21s Yahoogroup for some additional frequencies, don't forget to check out the RR wiki & check for Milair frequencies in the (ZJX) Jacksonville ARTCC agency dropdown menu for Florida.

Default Jax ARTCC freqs.

BMT, you are right, I just checked the JAX & MIA ARTCC freqs againts the DOD IFR supplement & they are way out of date, doesn't the person responsible for the database keep these things up to date? I guess some of the railroad freqs I have plugged in for Florida are outdated too.

The IFR supplement is another joke!! NGA print's what the FAA send's. The FAA isn't noted for timely update's!!

I posted a current list for Jax Center and someone probably found a new 10 year old list and updated the drop down. That's the biggest problem with Mil freqs on RR, ANYONE can change a list and the ADMIN's never check to see if it's valid,

Jax Center is broken down by SECTOR's, North, East,South,West,Central, then you have the discrete RCAG freqs. IIRC Jax has over 50 UHF freqs.
