Question Alachua County / Gainesville

I have been told at radio shack that there is no scanner capable of receiving Alachua County law enforcement, fire rescue or emergency services radio transmissions.

I have been unsuccessful in trying to find a feed on the internet.

Does anyone know if there is a scanner that will receive those frequencies ?

Than ks in advance.....

Jim

I don't know much about the system, but just by looking at it in the database, it seems any digital scanner could pick it up. None of the talkgroups are encrypted or a special system like provoice. Radioshack employees have a history of being misinformed or uneducated in the area of scanning...

To name a few Scanners that can monitor Alachua County:

Uniden Bearcat BC250D and BC785D Digital Scanners with a BCi25D board installed
Uniden Bearcat BC296D, BC796D, BCD396T and BCD996T Digital Scanners
Radio Shack PRO-96 and PRO-2096 Digital Scanners

Taken from John Gerstners' website.

Alachua County 800 MHz Trunked System

If we're talking about this system...

Gainesville / Alachua County Trunking System, Gainesville, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

The Gainesville system has been rebanded; therefore the 250D/785D won't work. Apart from those scanners, let's add to the list: the BCD996XT, BCD396XT (Uniden), the GRE PSR-500 and 600, RS PRO-106/107 are all rebanding capable, and also able to do both digital and analog trunking.

You can read about them by clicking on the model number in this wiki article (all links are in blue)

RS aint what it used to be. They sell cell phones. Not scanners.

Benn scanning Alachua for 4 years now, I can getcha set up and going. I have helped another guy on here. I reccomend a GRE PSR 500 or 600. (500 is hand held, 600 is base, same scanner though really)

bullred(at)cox(dot)net if you need help.
