Update questionfor database files.
Using a BCT15 scanner, firmware up to date. Using ARC15PRO software, newest version. I have been listening to the scanner and decided to update everything from the Radioreference database so I deleted the information from the scanner and using the software I downloaded the information for Pinellas Country Florida, the Sheriff and Saint Pete police. Now I pick up nothing, it just keeps scanning. With the old datebase file I the scanner operates as it should? I noticed that the talkgroup IDs have changed for some. Is the new database files setup for a digital scanner? Or maybe I am just overlooking to do something? I have 17 frequencies program into the scanner. Does anyone know what needs to be done? As far as I can figure out I did what usually works. Maybe something in the rebanding that I missed? Thanks.
Project 25 I take it is Digital? That is what I programed into the scanner.

Yes it is digital. Your BCT15 scanner can't process it.
I'm adding a link about your scanner.>>> http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCT15

Although I don't have one, the bct15 looks like an analog scanner that does not receive digital at all. if you want to receive digital using a uniden scanner, you will need a bcd396T, a bcd396XT or a HomePatrol.

Thanks. I noticed that it was probably digital after I asked the question. I want to follow the one group and it's been about a year since I programmed anything into my scanners and seen the group not paying attention if it was digital or not.. I'll try my PRO-197 and see if it does what I want.

I am using a PRO-197 scanner and I can pick up digital transmissions but I still can't get anything for PSTA. The Database has the Talkgroup IDs and frequencies for PSTA but for some reason nothing is being heard. Has anyone heard anything from this group? As far as I know they are merging to a new system but haven't finished it yet. Does anyone have any information about this? I bought this scanner just so I could pick them up but so far it isn't working. And how did they come up with the Talkgroup IDs for PSTA?

the bus channels used to be simulcast on both systems and they were easy to identify, then partially encrypted, then no simulcast, then mostly all encrypted. you may hear the dispatch side of personal calls and maybe some group calls, but I don't pay much attention to it and have locked them out. one of your co-workers said the technology to encrypt was there, and a decision was made and that was that. so you won't be hearing much of the bus activity. what's with all those cameras on the buses, anyway?

They have five cameras on the bus and two outside. The two outside are for insurance reason because of accidents and slip and falls. Inside, video and audio for security reason when there are problems on the bus. They can watch in real time any time they want. It also helps when a passenger is causing trouble or an incident happens on the bus, it protects the driver and sometimes the passengers who are not telling the truth about what happened. They still haven't completely changed but some of it is.
As for the radio change if they have a swat incident they want everyone who needs to hear all on the same channel and they don't want any terrorists hearing what is going on. But what will happen is that a terrorist will just shoot a cop and take their radio like they did when they had the standoff with the black guy in the attic. They were saying that he had a radio scanner and was listening to my feed but the truth came out that it really was a police radio that he took off the officer. Really they just don't want anyone listening to what is going on. And I won't put up a feed here again.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.2; en-us; LG-MS690 Build/FRG83G) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)
There is still a lot of traffic you can monitor on the analog (Motorola type 2) system. If either of your scanners can follow a trunking system there is still a lot you can receive.

I have been listening to a lot of transmissions using two digital scanners, PRO-96 and PRO-197 and there is a lot we can still receive but this is slowly disappearing and will be gone one of these day. Just about everyone is going encrypted, this is part of obamas plan that he calls being transparent, which is an oxymoron at least, when there is no transparency at all. Police, Fire, Transportation are all public or government owned and we are supporting them but we are not allowed to know what is going on, it is all being kept secret. Radio transmissions should be public and the public should be able to listen to what they are saying on their radios. I can see not being able to listen when swat is being used but everything else should be available listening to the public if they have the scanners. Others might disagree but it doesn't take a person with a high IQ to see that listening to scanners is just about over. I can't even listen to the Bus Company anymore, the Sheriff and City Police are going encrypted digital, State police have already. What have they got to hide? They have even said that they want all of these on the same systems so they can communicate with each other. The scanner companies won't admit that scanning is on the way out as they want to sell scanners now and for a few more years but mark my words, scanner listening as it was will be a thing of the past a few years down the road and others see this happening also and some have questioned it but were told not to worry, there is still a lot to listen to. But not what we really want to listen to. I had three scanners streaming on the net at one time and now I am down to just one..That is a big hint to me what is going on with scanning.
