Pinellas County public services uses a motorola type II smartzone system and has been rebanded the Pro-95 does not support rebanding. It can be found here: Pinellas County Public Services Trunking System, Pinellas County, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

St. Petersburg police is on the new digital project 25 pinellas digital system along with Treasure island and St. Pete Beach Here: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4290. Treasure island and st. pete beach are also listed on the smartzone system but I haven't heard them on there in forever.

If you are looking to monitor the Smartzone system it is analog but your scanner doesn't support rebanding you can still scan it I believe (works on my pro-97). You cannot monitor the P25 system at all without a digital scanner.

The only reason it "seems" like you're still receiving all the communications on the analog system on your Pro 97 is because only 2 of the 24 Ridgecrest site frequencies end in a zero (xxx.xxx0 MHz.), and none of the Toytown frequencies end in a zero.

Non-rebandable scanners cannot convert the channel numbers assigned to the .xxx0 frequencies in the 851-854 MHz band into the actual frequency.

So, if all the Ridgecrest site frequencies had an equal chance of being utilized, you would miss, on average, about 9% of that site's traffic due to rebanding. That's pretty good, considering some of the Motorola systems that rebanded from the 866-868 MHz segment have 50% or more frequencies ending in a zero.

Is anyone aware of whether the SPB PD's talkgroups will continue to be used when the county takes over patrol duties in the town ? Any other municipalities in the county seriously considering contracting law enforcement duties with the county ?

I am currently using a Pro95 for the feed I provide here at RR. I deselected groups 1 & 2 as they are south county and I am just broadcasting 3 & 4. It seems to work well and to the best of my knowledge, I dont think I am missing any traffic.

When they go "all" digital, I will make up my mind if I dedicate my 396XT to the task or not.

Best of luck with your monitoring and hope you enjoy living in Pinellas County.

Vince
