Default St. John's County P25

Greetings,

Did the St. John's County P25 system get lit up? I realize they may not have cut over, but last time I was down there they didn't have control channels on the air. Is it in testing?

I haven't heard nothing as of yet. But some toolbags decide to shoot some lights out on the new towers according to my buddy was telling me. When I was living there I scan every other day til I moved.

Very cool! I saw they got a narrowband waiver, but was not sure about the progress. I may swing by Divcom when I am in town around xmas. Have not decided what days that will be though. Hope all is well with you guys.

About 6 months ago was talking to someone the way he was telling me about 10-25% of the radio may be Encrypted. I'm not sure though since I don't live in SJC anymore. I will visit in late Feb early March.

Will the new P25 TRS be an independent system or a part of the First Coast Radio System in Duval County?

From what I have read, it will not be connected to FCRS's core.

Give it time they will get a talkgroup for Clay, Duval, Flagler Counties. The SJC couldn't talk to JFRD when they came for the BP fire.

I did not say they wouldn't get access to each others systems, what I said was I highly doubt SJC would be connected to FCRS or anyone else's core. I would imagine it is highly likely they will have each others systems programmed in the radios.

I've heard SJCSO on 857.750. It's one of their TAC channels (haven't identified it yet), but it can only be heard withing 1000 yards or so from the tower on Old Moultrie Road.

Haven't tried. The ICOM 2720 is a Ham Radio Mobile designed for operation on 2 meters and 440, but does scan 800 mHz. There are other control channels on there, but wouldn't know how to identify them.
One of the local hams, at a luncheon today, suggested that this might be a channel used to pass data to another tower (there are 11 of 'em). Might be.
I'll extent that receiving range to about one mile (tho I'm using the mobile with a 2 m/440 qtr wave vert. on the roof of the car.

I don't see no 857.750 on the FCC or RRDB.
