NYRHKY94, Thank you for submitting the info. Was hoping they were testing all options on the new system, but it appears they chose to be encrypted. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

flpyro, I thank you for your efforts at that meeting. It reminds me of an old Irish Saying, If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh_t. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you cronst10. Same to you!

P.S. In my opinion, Encrypting all transmissions (as opposed to only senstive ops) is more of a "policy" decision made by the political powers that happen to be in office at the time in any given town, city, county etc. It's not necessarily a permanent thing. Like anything else, if the political winds shift enough back the other way (i.e a move towards transparency in government), then it could change back to something less than 100% ENC. I have seen this happen in one of the towns in my area.

The Villages Fire is still dispatched by Lake County at this time. The VHF systems in Sumter should be there as backup. I do know shortly all of Rural/Metro EMS (here in Orange) will be going to the MotoTRBO system. They have already upgraded all portable and mobile radios to the XPR

Well, you're a little late to the party. Villages is now dispatched by Sumter has been for several months.

Interesting note about R/M's Orange Operations. I guess we will see what pans out there...

453.075 (Tac 3) is still used as mutual aid dispatch when Orange units are moved to Sumter. If you listen to the Orange dispatch, you can hear the data bursts from the XPR on transmit. The Bithlo repeater site will be replaced with the TDMA TRBO repeater soon.

Jerry, they are not on the Lake County dispatch, haven't heard them for several weeks now. They are on the new system, check the data base for Sumter, most of it is encrypted.

Tnx for the info. Why am I not hearing the garbled encrypted audio of these talkgroups/
Except for the villages security., I don't hear any digital/encrypted or see the talkgroup displayed on the data channel.
All other systems I've listened to over the years., at least you can hear and see the talkgroup???
Using both 396 and 996 here Uniden

Not sure Jerry. I'm using a Pro-106 and have it programmed for "ID Search" on the Sumter TRS. Maybe you have the Uniden's set for ID Scan of only what you have already programmed in?

Just noticed that The Villages Community Watch is now also encrypted as of March 26-27, 2013.

Mwness is unfortunately correct. Now even The Villages Community patrol is 100% ENC on the Sumter County system. Florida continues to be the national poster child for shutting out the taxpaying public....

And more and more encryption is coming to everywhere. When you see these national events and then the announcement that here is audio of the radio from WWW.RADIOREFERENCE.COM (flashed on the screen). If you were a chief would you want everything out in the open. I am not saying they are doing anything bad what I am saying is that there are plenty of Monday morning quarterbacks even members of RR.
Fire has become interested in encryption because it was an open source after LE encrypted.
APPS on phones certainly did not help our cause.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.1.2; en-us; SPH-L710 Build/JZO54K) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

I agree, but most people on this site don't want to hear it. They're in denial.

I do believe now that sumter county has went digital and on a trunked system so no one can even hear what is going on fire/ems plus sheriffs office is all on the new system
