Like oldgold31 says, nearly everything in Sumter County is encrypted, this means you won't be able to listen to much (or any) public safety communications from agencies in Sumter County.

When Rural Metro took over all 911 Communications in Sumter, they went P25 Encrypted on all talk groups. Rural Metro is the first private EMS agency to operate a secondary 911 PSAP in the State of Florida. They dispatch for all FD agencies in Sumter including the Villages. All radios are APX portable and XTL and APX mobiles. The only time you may hear anything is on 453.075MHZ which is the Rural Metro Orlando mutual aid talk group for units from Orlando going to Sumter
