I am working on setting up a new Uniden R3 radar detector. I am wondering if anyone has a handle on what microwave bands are being used and which bands are not in use in Pinellas & Hillsborough. I have some granular control over each band, including sensitivity and bandwidth. i would like to use those features to my advantage if possible.

I know there are a couple websites that cover this topic, but don't go into specific details county by county. Any help is welcomed.

TY,
Vince

K, Ka and Laser are pretty much in use statewide.

X is no longer permitted for speed measurement in Florida, so turn it off.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking, but like to reaffirm by hearing it from someone else. TY.

Stalker Dual radar, which uses ka band, is the most popular radar in use in florida. Look up their site and it will tell you the frequency spectrum the units operate at. Some agencies may buy cheaper radars (decatur, cheaper stalker units, etc) which operate at k band, but it's rare to encounter it in my experience.

Makes sense, thanks.

Thanks for your input. I will take a look at the Stalker website....makes sense to look at the specs for specific frequencies. I am using a Uniden R3 and it shows the specific frequency and will allow me to block a certain frequency if I get a lot of false alerts.

Have nice weekend.
