Subscription notifications?
Hi,
I was wondering why I don't get email notifications to replied or subscribed threads?

It's not automatic. In order to receive email notifications, you need to click "Thread Tools" above a thread, then click "Subscribe to This Thread". On the resulting page, change the box that says "No Email Notification" to "Instant Email Notification" and you should be good to go.

Yes, did that for the threads I like to follow. But like this thread that I created. I'm automatically subscribed and no email notification when you replied. I had to check it manually. My user cp setting are set for instant notification.

If it's working for others there's not much we can do. It leads to a problem on your end such as spam blocking or something else.

I've noticed that I've been getting notifications a couple hours after the reply was posted. I thought I made a mistake when subscribing and chose daily or weekly notifications, but this has happened on some that I used to get instantly. It doesn't always have a delay, just occasionally. Its no big deal to me. I check the forums about as often as I check my e-mail, but I guess it would be kinda agrivating if you were subscribed to several active threads.

Based on your ISP (at least the one for your registered email) I know that it has an inconsistent application of SPAM capture. The only way to insure that messages are not diverted is to add the "From" address to your contacts on the web mail contact list or to disable the spam filter entirely. I also have used this ISP for the last 8 years and I can assure you that the partnership they took on several years ago has caused this and many other problems.

"Instant" is really a misnomer when it is applied to notification about subscribed threads. Several factors impact this, among them are: - The delay between when a post is made and the site checks for new posts. That is that "magic" time between when a post is made and you may edit it without the Edited by: message showing up in the post.
- The delay between when notifications are queued for delivery and the mail server actually sends them.
- The delay in transit across the Internet.
- The delay between your ISP's checks for foreign messages (not originating on your ISP) and when the message is trying to be delivered.
- The delay in how often you actually check your mail server for new messages.

You must first authorize Instant Notification by going to your User CP, scroll down to Settings and Options in the left panel. Click on Edit Options. Scroll down to Messaging and Notification in center of page. There you will find a section, "Default Thread Subscription Mode." Click the drop-down menu and click on "Instant Notification."

Have that option in the CP, and it is checked there. Still do not see it in the thread.

You are not looking at Thread options, your screen shot was of Forum options. Not the same thing.

Below is what you are looking for to get your Instant E-Mail Notification going for all posts to threads you have subscribed to.

Maybe what I am asking is not possible (and realize I asked it wrong). I see how to subscribe to a post/thread and have done that.
I would like to subscribe to a forum (breaking news) so if there is a new thread it will email me. Is this possible????

Thanks.
I did some searching and found a RSS link to the Michigan forums, so I can set that up and use an email notification from the feed.
Can I do a separate RSS feed for the breaking news sub forum in the Michigan forum?
Sorry for all the questions.....
