Default Unread threads not highlighted

In the last two or three days I have noticed most of the threads I have not read are no longer highlighted. Any idea what may the problem?

As I understand it, the Highlighted threads are threads that have been updated since your last visit.

NOT unread threads.

NOT unread threads.
All I know is when I read it, it becomes UN-highlighted. I would still like an answer.
"I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer because it ends further discussion.

Yes, when you read a highlighted thread, it indeed does cease to be highlighted. I think what burner was implying is that just because a thread in the index is not highlighted does not mean you have read it, it does mean that since your last visit to the site, it had not been updated.

In other words, if you came to the forums for 5 minutes and did nothing or read a couple of threads and then left, when you returned some time later only threads updated since your last visit would be highlighted and all the ones you did not read on your previous visit would not be highlighted unless they had been updated since that visit. In addition, if you leave your computer on the site, things will time out and cease to be highlighted, even if you have not looked at them.

If you are experiencing something different that I have described, you will have to be a lot more explicit than you have been in the above two quotes.
