Default Delays in posts

I've ran into this issue a few times over the past few weeks and I'm wondering if I am not the only one?

For example, this thread I commented on yesterday:
http://forums.radioreference.com/wor...-antennas.html
When I read the thread for the first time there were NO replies to the thread. I immediately (no delay on my part) posted my reply. Throughout the day I come back to the forum and check posts I've commented on. The last time I checked this thread last night I was still showing as the only reply. When I get online this morning it's as if time went wonky and there are now 4 replys ABOVE mine that were posted over an hour before mine. Why didn't these posts show up before now?

This has happened to me on a few other threads as well, here's an example of another one:
Notice on post 16 of this tread that I tell the OP it was over a day before I saw his posts appear. It looks like everyone in the thread is ignoring the OP but actually no one saw his posts until after nearly a page of replies had been posted.
Baofeng UV5R+ - Best frequencies for security?

When I am finished on the site I close out my web browser, and often access the site from 3 different devices which each have a different external IP address, and each device uses a different browser. So it's not an issue with my web browser or internet connection.

Is this a common issue here, and can this be resolved?

Thanks!

New users posts are moderated until a certain number. They may make a number of posts but they are not visible. When the magic number appears then they appear in the actual timeframe they were posted. It's happend to me.

I understand that's probably for SPAM control, but that's just silly. I'm sure it's confusing for the new users that are seeking assistance on the forums, and makes real-time communication difficult.

Thanks for the info.

Would you rather have the forums flooded with hundreds of spam messages a day than have somebody with less than 3 posts wait a little bit?

WB4CS,

Yea, I don't think you understand the scope of the problem with relation to SPAM. We probably see 10-20 accounts registered daily for the sole purpose to try to SPAM the forums. Our moderaters deals with hundreds of SPAM posts weekly that get moderated and deleted that would have otherwise inundated the forums.

Realize that there are paid economies where people do nothing but register for accounts on forums to post SPAM.

Not silly at all. It's absolutely necessary for the good of all members.

It shouldn't be confusing for *any* new members since the policy is part of the required reading when registering to use the forums.

Attention all new members!

Those that can understand why it's done are glad that it's in place.

Without such policies in place, "real time communication" would be far more compromised by a flood of spam.

Okay, I give!
You all bring up good points, very true it would be worse to have tons of spam posts to wade through. I hadn't thought of it that way.

That being said, I'll say thank you to the admins for what you do in keeping the forum spam free.

Believe me, unless you've done a stint as a moderator of a busy board you have absolutely no idea of how much spam and similar crap people try to get posted in the open forums. It never stops and it wastes tons of moderators' time, and in almost all cases it has nothing to do with electronics in any form.

But just think of all the millions of dollars you are keeping from the members here from all the rich people in Africa who have no way to receive their own riches.
