How many Scanners do you have(or want)?

I'm relatively new to the scanner world(and Ham radio) and just wonder how many people have multiple scanners in use? and if you can (or could)afford more than one, in what configuration do you use them?
I realize everyone has a different need because of their geographical location... just curios if others use multiple units.

I now have 4 units at my listening desk:

Uniden BCD996XT - monitoring county 800mhz Motorola digital/analog system

Uniden BCT15X - monitoring conventional county police - analog only -(approx 15 communities)

RS Pro197 - monitoring county Fire(analog) and State-wide MARCS system, seconday coverage of neighboring county 800 mhz motorola digital/analog system

Uniden BC370CRS - Weather alert and Air

Am I nuts, or should I get one more to cover 'local Businesses', schools, public transport, amateur radio?

not nuts lol i have 4 scanners my pro197 monitoring or county 800MHz edacs system and bordering countys and my pro106 monitoring the state wide MARCS system and thats my traveling scanner my pro2050 for franklin county 800MHz Motorola system and my bc350a is put at this time dont really use it much any more so i dont think your nuts lol

5 on my desk with plans to add another 996xt and a icom 75. I also have 2 handhelds as well as a few retired base/handhelds in storage. If I get my HAM ticket as planned I'm afraid I'll need a bigger desk for whatever ham radios I convince myself I need. lol

Getting even a little bit serious about this hobby is addictive. And expensive.

Casual listeners are usually happy with one or two. Those with more specific needs or desires may use many.

While I might be considered extreme (I have 3 mounted in my car, 2 at work, 2 dozen at home and a couple dozen HH's) I use anywhere from 6 to 10 at a time in my home office. Several are actively decoding data, several are set up for fire toneouts and a couple are set to specific services (rail, air, fire...)

Currently have three.. Two RS Pro-164s that I use for my feeds, and a Uniden BC346XT that I use for myself. Usually scanning three local PD agencies and two fire. I want at least one more.

Current Scanners;

(2) Uniden - 996XT at home to listen State Police and local Fire/Police on a selective basis. Identically programmed 396XT for hand held and mobile use around the State of Connecticut. Police, Fire, State Police, Aviation, Utilities, DOT, etc.

I'm a Fire Commissioner, so I use the base scanner to record calls while I am at work, away from home.

(1) Realistic PRO-2004, modified in 1989 (oooooo la la!) for cellular reception and 400 channels instead of 300, plus (Drum Roll) Turbo Scan! (I forget the enhanced speed) Used to quickly plug in a frequency for monitoring. Analog only.

At least three crystal controlled scanners no longer relevant, but "in the day", when one of those 4 or 8 channels lit up, it was happenin'! My first scanner was a Bearcat TMR 8 L/H. 1972ish.

Would love to buy another, but I don't want anyone to think I'm nuts. I'll wait for the next generation of technology.

Have a BCT15X doing my feed, have a pro-164 in my Blazer, but want to upgrade to a digital feed scanner and digital handheld and pass these two on to someone else who may need them. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I have a BC210XL that I picked up from Salvation Army. Still works, keypad has no "spring" to the buttons. Anyone want 'em?

I have two scanners I use at home, a uniden bct8 and a uniden bct15x. They are programmed almost identically, but I have more freqs in my 15x. I use the bct8 for most of my scanning needs, but go to the more specific arrangement of agencies in the systems and groups of the 15x when something is geing on. Many times I monitor PD with the 8 and fire/ems/aviation/marine with the 15x. I also have a GRE psr500 for mobile opperations.

Do I want more? Heck yeah! If I could have a separate scanner for every channel I monitor I would be in heaven. Unfortunately that will never happen. I'll likely stick with what I have for now as I plan to get a ham license and will subsequently drop all sorts of money there as well.

I have 3. A 796D in my truck along with a Radio Shack Pro 97 for when I am out. I also have a BC 350A hosting a feed here.

I would like to replace 350A with a newer scanner with Alpha tags and get a newer didgital Handheld. I am waiting on replacing the feed scanner because I am hoping that a scanner comes out (I know, here comes the wishful thinging) that can decode Nextgen for railrailroads, as that is what the feed is.
