Default Scanner replacement

Hi guys, I'm looking forward to change my old Icom ic-r2 for another handheld. I was thinking to replace it with for a Uniden Bearcat BCD396XT. Is that a good idea ??

Thanks

What are you looking to listen too? What freq range? The Uniden BCD396XT covers a good range of systems and freq bands that are listenable by scanners so it is a good choice.

What is your location? People can better help you if they know what your location is.

Taken straight from the Montreal Database page found here on RR: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/d...5210#cid-10876

Montreal Police are on a conventional UHF (400 MHz) system

Montreal Fire are on the "Ville de Montreal" Motorola P25 (14F - 201) Trunked system Montreal FIRE Trunking System, Montreal, Quebec - Scanner Frequencies AND use P25 Simplex frequencies described in this section

Montreal EMS are on the "Reseau Securite Publique RSP - Montreal" EDACS system RSP Montreal Trunking System, Montreal-Metro, Quebec - Scanner Frequencies

There are some channels on there that are encrypted, which no scanner is able to receive. The scanner you mentioned will work otherwise.
