Scannermaster's price gouging goes inline with all of the assault weapon and ammunition price gouging. All of these fears are based on the pending "ObamaCom act of 2013" which totally re-writes the Communications Act of 1934 and broadens the taboo reach of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986. Under this ban, civilian receiving of spectrum "...between 36mhz-2.2 ghz without a government licensed subscriber unit...shall be prohibited..." Bans will be placed on "Assault-style receiver units" capable of hundreds of virtual folders and capable of internal memory in excess of 8mb. Alarmists, convinced that this proposed legislation has a snowball's chance in hell passing are flocking to electronics outlets and internet sites to secure pre-ban equipment, which has now created back orders, short supply and finally price gouging. ;-)

I purchased my PSR-800 from Scannermaster just about 10 days ago. The listed price was high but I wanted the option to return the unit in the event I didn't like it. I asked if they price match and they said yes. It couldn't have been easier and I can still return it if I want (I don't want!). Seems like the best of all worlds to me....

well as long as they insure price match, and provide the service that i've grown used to from them, i'll continue to buy my scanners from them. i have not bought any scanners from anyone but them for the last 4 year's. if memory serves me correctly.

That is crazy. Was just having this discussion last night on IRC. I checked my receipt and paid $411 back in October 2012 from Amazon. Not really that long ago.

Scannermasters pricing on the PSR-800 is extortionist.

I know! I went to buy a moon rock and it was going to cost thousands of dollars... Extortionist pricing.
I tried to buy the original Declaration of Independence and while paper cost a penny, they wanted over a million! Extortionist.

Oh wait, maybe there is something else going on...

I should have listened to the supply & demand lecture in economics

Scannermasters pricing on the PSR-800 has nothing to do with supply and demand. It's deliberate price manipulation given that there is no known supply shortage of the PSR-800 and pricing is closer to $500 from other retailers.

Right now Scannermaster has the PSR-800 listed for $699.00 which is highway robbery.

There is a well known supply shortage of the PSR800.

I wonder if scanner masters low price guarantee means a hill of beans when purchasing the PSR-800. I should call them and ask for a price match and see if they'll bite.

They won't budge, I tried. Besides, if you click on their low price guarantee page you'll see at the bottom of the page that GRE models are excluded.

Default PSR-800 Scannermaster $599

Besides the GRE exclusion, to use a price match guarantee, you need an actual lower price to ask to be matched. That means someone else that has the exact same thing in stock willing to sell it to you for that lower price. A used one on eBay doesn't count. Another store which ran out of stock 2 months ago doesn't count either.

Our Price: $699.95

The price is up again so they must be getting low on stock.
