Im thinking about getting back into scanning. and I wondering if we are still able to scan without any problems. I use to own a PSR-800. It was a really nice radio. Was wondering if that or the BCD-96XLT would be a good radio?

The psr800 is still a good radio, but you can't get one new anymore. I don't think a Uniden radio with that number exists. If it does, it's not a trunking radio and I would not recommend it.

Polk County operates on the Polk, Hardee, Highlands Counties Public Safety system.

It is a P25 phase 1 digital trunked system, and it does not look like any of the Polk County Sheriff, Fire, or other stuff is encrypted, even though some encryption exists.

You would need a digital trunking scanner.
