I heard this today while monitioring the National Institutes of Health system.

NIH Fire Alarm Tech 1: Come over here. They are handing out presents down here. (Open Mic) I see two Redskins cheerleaders too.

NIH Fire Alarm Tech 2: What!!!! They are handing out Redskins cheerleaders???

NIH Fire Alarm Tech 2 : Where you at??

NIH Fire Alarm Tech 1 : Children's Clinical Center. You may have to put on your diapers to see this.

Default Ambulance Ops

I work for an ambulance in the northeastern part of the US (the state that the movie, Super Troopers, is from). This was at 0100:

A - Ambulance
D - Dispatch

A: Radio, this is Unit 91.

D: Answering Unit 91.

A: Radio, this is Unit 91, we are clear of the call, in quarters.

D: 10-4, Unit 91. Oh, and don't call me Radio!

A: Copy that, Radio!

State Trooper calling for backup: "I pulled the subject over at the Wal-Mart, now he's doing donuts in the parking lot."
Several Troopers went enroute.

Haha, this one even made my scanner hating wife laugh just now:

EMS unit (in a very perky voice): Happy New Year everyone!

Dispatch (in a miserable tone): What exactly is happy about it?

EMS unit (perky): In 7 1/2 hours we'll be off shift for 3 days.

Dispatch (smiling now): Well Happy New Year to everyone about that!!

Heard on Bryan Fire Dispatch:

"Engine 2, have a fire with flames..."

So I guess fires DON"T necessarily have to have flames? I didn't know that...

No, the dispatcher just said "fire with flames".

Just heard on the local Union Pacific channel:

Here's the background: The dispatcher was instructing an engineer to drop off some cars on a siding and hook up his engine to another set on the same siding.
"Your mission, should you choose to accept it...[gives a very complicated set of instructions regarding the operation]...this message will explode in a few moments..."

I think this was much more stupid than funny, but I heard this one just last night. There was a call put out around midnight for officers to respond to a location where someone threw a box on someones front lawn and the box was popping. Dispatch advised they told the caller and neighbors to stay away from the box. So an officer gets on scene and told dispatch that someone put a microwave full of fireworks in a box and plugged it in to an outlet that was being used for Christmas lights.

wth, who would have thought up something like that?

Heard once on a maintenance TG on the TAMU TRS:

Background: Texas A&M has a networked lightning detection system that notifies the maintenance base ("Physical Plant Radio Room") when lightning is detected. So, anytime there is a thunderstorm, the Physical Plant dispatcher will go through all of the channels and broadcast a message notifiying maintenance crews of the lightning hazard. Usually, no one says anything after the message, but one time someone did:

Radio Room: "This is the Physical Plant Radio Room. This is to inform you that the lightning detection system has been activated. Please take all precautionary measures necessariy if you are working outdoors."
Unknown unit: "But I don't wanna..."

I think the dispatcher answered him, but I don't recall what was said.
