In my CB radio days....I always relied on the S meter a lot. To postion an antenna etc. I wish that my scanner had one too. Is there a reason why scanner manufacturers don't include them (other than cost)? I have a BCT8.

Some of the higher end scanners do have them. The Uniden's only.. The 396T has one, and the older Uniden Digitals had them as well. They were small though, resembled a cellular style S-meter..

I agree that a signal meter is a nice thing to have to compare antenna's with. I added a meter to my Pro2035 & 2006 back when I bought them new and still use them to compare differences in my antenna's. Cost is probably the main reason like you said RustyCivic.
