weird sounds questions

when i scan with my new 246t uniden sometimes scanner stops and all I hear is weird sounds. Sounds like heavy machinery, or sometimes beeps, worbly sounds or even buzzing. What are these things that I'm hearing. Do I need to adjust my device or is this normal. Also if those things are nothing interesting is there a way of configuring scanner to not stop when it finds a channel like this.

Sounds like you are describing control channels for trunking systems or the buzzing sound maybe a digital transmission. Check those freqs out in the data base to find out who and what they are, maybe it will be a trunked system that you may want to listen to. Although if it is digital you would need an capable scanner to decode them.

what frequency ranges(s) are you hearing this in? I agree, it sounds like you're describing a control or data channel.

Could be paging too. If it constant or nearly so then just lock them out.
