I don't understand your question. Are looking for a radio that covers AM, Shortwave, VHF and higher frequencies or one that's a traditional scanner that's able to receive the most common public safety/commercial/aircraft traffic? It really helps if you tell us where you are by either including it in the location field in your profile (preferred) or at least in your post. Giving as much information as possible about your requirements is abig help also.

If you don't have any interest in trunking but just want PL/DCS then your best deal would still be a Pro-97. It has the features you're looking for plus will do analog trunking should ever need it. It's a nice receiver and you can pick one up for $149 at Radio Shack.

In most circles the term "general coverage" refers to a receiver that will at least cover 500 kihz to 30 Mhz, i.e., the HF spectrum. Just what are you wanting to receive in that spectrum that would be using PL (CTSS)?

Or the Uniden 246, which can be had for under 200 online.
