I just wanted to let everyone know that Im new to trunking and don't really understand how to program it manually, so I just went ahead and got butel software and signed up for RR database on Butel, and I've had know problem's ever since with trunking and I upload a lot of trunking ICIS CWIS buses LADWP EDISON Disneyland, everything work's great. If I didn't know about RR I would still have a problem with programming trunking control channel's and ID's.

I uploaded all the casino's everyone of them and when I went to Vegas I got all of them no problem, that software is awesome.

How do u program those trunking control channel channel's manually? there are lot's of them in one system!

You have the ideal setup. Why program manually? If you download one trunked system at a time, it will save on one uniden system.

I have the ARC396Pro which also allows me to auto log and record. What else could you want?

I am in the LA area and looking to purchase my first scanner mainly for disneyland listening, but also fro use at work (a local megaplex operating on 4 freqs in the 400's) and why not at school as well just to know what's going on (Cal State LA). What are you using and where do you get this software that makes it easy?

Thanks for your help!

bcd396towner, you might want to take a look at the following links. At the first one, concentrate on understanding the basics, then whatever the type of trunk it is you are trying to program. If you get a paid subscription, you will be able to pull data directly from the database into ARC396 which can be a huge help...

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Trunking

and this tells you how to get a subscription....

and doing it manually, this 'Easier to Read' manual will be quite helpful...

Sam your question really belongs in the California forum (see what it says about location specific questions at the top in bold?). However what software you get depends entirely on what scanner you get. Our wiki has articles on each and every popular scanner out there - and has a section on supporting software. They are cross ref'ed by manufacturer (under 'Forum Specific Topics'), type of trunking and type of unit. Anything in blue is a link to another article or section.

The California folks will be the best ones to advise you as to which scanner/software seems most effective, but note that this is, to some extent, as much a personal choice as a performance one.
