Hi folks!
As a "newbie" to both this forum as well as to scanning in general I am hoping that you experts can give me some advice.
I have recently purchased a Radio Shack Pro-433 "trunking" scanner.
Now, I was told that to get the full benefit from this scanner I should purchase some scanner software and to use my computer to program the frequencies into my scanner.
OK...question #1: What software should I use in order to program this scanner?
Question #2: I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is within Kent County Michigan. Will the up-to-date frequencies for this area be included with the software? In other words, how do I actually get the local frequencies I want to load into my scanner INTO my scanner using the software?
OK...thanks in advance for your patience as well as for your help with this "rookie" question!
Peace!!

To add to this:

Just so you know: the 433 will not handle the Michgan statewide system; anything listed as Project 25 requires the use of the scanners listed in this article:

Digital Scanners: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Category:Digital_Scanners

You can get more information on a topic by clicking on the blue text in the wiki (just like on the forums); these are links to other articles or sites.

Message #323 answers your exact questions about monitoring Grand Rapids.
Unless you are going to program many, many freqs., software should not be needed. But if you really want to get into it, use ARC-433. Info. in the group FILES section.
