RM (and somone correct me please if I'm wrong) is typically the output of a repeater. This is typically the frequency you will want to listen to.

The input is usually CO.

Fixed is either a COntrol point or could be used in point to point communications. Basically one tower relaying to another tower. These are usually at least UHF if not in the microwave range.

RM means that the system uses a repeater and the mobiles can transmit on the repeater output usually in simplex mode, as well (kinda like a talk-around). Fixed is usually for RF links. AKA Remote input sites.

I apologize but, I guess I'm not understanding, EX: my sheriff dept. TX's on 465.475 and RX's on 460.475, would that be an example of Repeater or Repeater mobile. Thanks

Unless you have plans on being a by-stander at an incident, program
the 460.xxx freq's in your scanner.

Thanks, but I am aware what a input and a output are, what I am asking is, Take 460.475 output, would this just be R? 465.475 input, is this M? Therefore does it make it RM?

Could you give an example of where and how you saw the "RM" used? In the context you used, I don't think it stands for "repeater/mobile" as those are two different things. The repeater and mobile cannot be on the same frequency, so I doubt that's what RM stands for.

If it is in teh FCC ULS database it probably means "Renewed/Modified"

You need to do 2 things or this discussion is going to accoplish nothing.

1. A topic that is somewhat descriptive would help. I know plenty of people that will simply skip topics such as this because the subject is usless.

2. What database are you looking at that is indicating RM? That could meany many things in many databases. It's like asking "What does the H mean on 'the gauge' on your car's dashboard. There are lots of gauges with an H. Be specific.

I know what your talking about. I asked about it a year or two ago on the www.strongsignals.net board. Someone there posted a link to a help page on the FCC site that definde what all those terms meant, M, RM, FX, FX1,FX2...etc, but the quick search I did, didn't produce any results. I printed them out at one time and had them taped to my desk, but the list got trashed when I moved to Vegas, and my hard drive crashed 2 months ago, so I lost the bookmark. I waill try to look around on the FCC site, and I suggest you do the same. as they say, "the truth is out there".

I think the RM they are talking about is the RadioReference.com database
codes not the FCC ones. The FCC does NOT use R or M.
