There was a recent discussion in the Utah forum on this topic. That thread played out its typical course and ended up locked. (As predicted).

However, one member decided to continue the discussion in PM.

He provided the name of one airline, ASA, that he believed had specifically allowed scanners at some point in the past.
I emailed their customer support, and received this answer back from Delta.
ASA is now owned by Delta. From 1984 to 1999 they were a Delta Connection airline.

Perhaps wireless telephones are covered under this provision?

And more proof the rules are written (or at least "worded") by people who do not understand the whole situation.

Yet, they are still the RULES.

Last August I flew from Missouri to Florida and back. I had one carry on - my laptop. Also inside my laptop carrying case was my BC246T. After takeoff, I took the scanner out of the laptop case, turned it on and used an ear bud. No problems at all. Scanning was good.

Last week, I drove 80 MPH on I-80, therefore there is no speed limit!:roll:

(Now would be a good time to move this to the Wasteland or lock it!)

Thanks for posting this. I hope it will become a sticky here and in the Wasteland. This topic keeps coming back to haunt us like an untreated STD.

Thus providing proof that DocDaddy is a criminal.

I will indeed lock it and also set it as a sticky. I think, chrismoll, you should consider reading more carefully in the future; although N_Jay's comment indeed did not directly deal with a scanner, it was an example of how a crime is a crime, doesn't matter what level of crime or if you consider it a crime.
