Mike,

If you have everything installed, all you need to do is hook your discriminator output directly to your sound card input (Line in or Mic) and make sure you have the correct input selected through the Windows sound mixer. When you start the program it will automatically start decoding any CTCSS or DCS codes that it detects. The two graphic displays will help give you some indication of whether your sound inputs are set up correctly. If everything is correct, the waveforms should change when a signal is being received by the scanner. I hope that helps.

Hi Andy:

Thanks for the reply! I have the scanner connected from the discriminator to the Line-In on my default sound card. I also made sure that Line-In is selected in the mixer. I still get nothing thru the decoder program. No wave forms or codes. It just sits there. Do I have to start Labview at all as part of this process? I must be missing something very simple.....

Thanks again - Mike

No, you shouldn't have to run anything except the program. The LabView runtime environment you downloaded and installed isn't actually a program that you run. It's simply the runtime environment that the DCSdecode program needs in order to function. I'm not sure what the problem might be. Maybe if someone else reading this thread has similar problems they could comment.

For those having problems, one of the requirements I'd forgotten about until I did some more digging is DirectX 8.0 or later on your PC. I believe Windows 2000 came standard with DirectX 7.0, so you may need to upgrade.

Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime

I just uploaded an additional alternate version that uses some different functions to access the sound card. Give that a shot and let me know if it works.

Stil same problem
I dont Know if it is a sound card related problem
because i dont see anything at the scope even not a straight line (that represent no amplitude)
there is no line at all only the scope picture with the horisontal and the vertical bars (that makes the squeres)
