Default Handheld radio with P25

Does anyone know if there are any manufactuerers making a handheld multiband radio that is capable of receiving P-25? the reason i ask is i just bought a AOR 8200Mk3 and honestly for the 800.00 bucks id rather have a unit that is dual purpose. im obviously not looking to transmit but to listen to the new P25 trunked channels would be nice on one unit.

Thanks
Michael

The AOR 8200 is not a ham rig. Maybe your question would be better asked in one of the scanner forums.

The short answer, by the way, is that there are now several handheld scanners available for P25 monitoring.

There is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to programming a radio onto a trunking system. If you are sucessful, and that is if, in just a few days you could have a very expensive doorstop once the illegal affilation is caught by the system manager.

You might want to read this thread....because their could be legal implications as well...

I agree, the reason i asked was simple, 1 radio vs. buying a new handheld 2 meter AND a digital scanner. but it seems that is my best option to get a good digital scanner and sell my AOR.

Thanks everyone sorry to kick the already decaying horse.

The Uniden 396XT does digital along with the GRE PSR-500, and RS pro-106 and all are multiband. all are handheld and you can buy one for under 800.
