Almost always... Only times it is off is if I am doing work on it...power out and batts dead...

Only reason its not on my feed right now is because I am doing some rearranging of set up due to net issues and moving ants etc...

I have two scanners running 24/7 at home. When I am gone for an extended period of time, I only leave one of them on. I take at least one scanner with me, two for long trips. One scanner is on if I am driving or there to listen to it.

Talking On/off

Off when sleeping and not at home.
Tone outs drive my dog nuts.
Pager tests drive my wife nuts.
Scanners off drive me nuts.

Always on, as I do all my monitoring via remote control. No way to remotely power 'em on that I know of...

The only time I turn both of my scanners off is when I am sleeping, working (and unable to listen), and if I must concentrate really hard on schoolwork. Otherwise, my scanners are turned on. Since both of my scanners are handhelds (BC95XLT & BCD396XT) I always travel with them turned on as well.

Other than my ISP going down or PC maintenance activities, I have 6 scanners going 24x7 providing feeds on RR.

If I am at home the BCT-15 is in set to Fire Tone out and the Pro-163 is scanning. In the F-150 there is the PSR-500 and the BCD 996. I won't go into which hand helds i have for use if away from home or the F-150.

I am new to the scanning community. I just purchased my first scanner, a Uniden BC246T handheld which I am listening to now. I turn it off when I am not using it. I have always lived by the rule, if it is not being used, turn it off.
