Digital cordless phones are close to untouchable, for us at least. Read the link..... There are some cordless phones in the 35-45 range i believe, along with baby monitors, in addition to the 900mhz mentioned.

Many of today's cordless telephones use encrytion or frequency hopping spread spectrum technology.
In a word, no.

As is mentioned many many many times on the forums, modern cordless phones are nearly impossible to monitor. Sometimes there are small windows you can get, but the majority us SS/FH, digital (Format that scanners can't decode) encryptions, and digtital with encryptions. The old VHF Lo band cp's are rarer and rarer. Not to mention legality issues.

Its actually more interesting to monitor the local restauraunts, because you actually still can lol.

Cool

Why not? As far as I know it's not yet illegal to listen to wireless mics,or itinerant low power channels and that's typically what most restaurants use.
Enlighten us?

Because if you read milf's post he pointed out that we can still listen to restaurants and this is what they use.
I posted in reply to his post.

And also, stated many, many times on the forums is that most of the inexpensive cordless phones (like those advertised in the Sunday drugstore ads for under $20) are not digital from the base, and transmit in the 900 MHz band. Search between 924 and 926 MHz and you might be surprised.

But if you do, shhhhhhh..... You really dont want people knowing youre listening to phones. While fairly unlikely, you really don't want to be charged with listening to phone convos without a court-approved tap. Be careful with who you tell. And yes, search from 900.000-930.000. Go to freqofnature.com and just insert their list, it is fairly thorough, and includes babymonitors. There was a thread somewhere in here about listening to babymonitors, and they can be better than phones, and the legality is in the clear I believe. Me and my mom consistently drive around neighborhoods scanning these freqs. :]

True true, the AT&T I have advertised "digital" 5.8GHz for $80 is actually only the handsets

I have several different cordless phones around here I use. One uses the 49 MHz band and others are in the 900 MHz band. Since some of these models are still being sold, I can't help but think there is traffic out there. But of course the signals do not go far.

Monitor 902 to 927 MHz in WFM mode for crystal clear conversations on both sides. If you happen to live in a large condo or apartment complex there is still enough 900 MHz phones out there to keep you blushing for hours. (Even with an indoor antenna!)

This is what I've been told anyway. Naturally I would never monitor those freqs myself!

;~)

I admired your well thought out disclaimer.

I have heard some of the 2.4GHz phones advertised as "digital" can still be heard on a scanner. A bird told me that FH phones can be monitored also, unless they are digital. Some just "hop" and are analog. A scanner won't work, but I know of a couple devices that can follow FH.

My disclaimer is I only monitor communications that are "readily accessible to the public" (go figure). Don't listen to anything I wouldn't listen to. <wink>
