how strong are the emission? could it be affecting health towards cancer. There a lot of studies floating around covering RF emission causing cancer from cell phone usage. I havent found anything about RF from scanner. It might change my idea of keeping a scanner near me.

Leakage from scanners is extremely small... especially when compared to holding an RF transmitter up right next to your brain.

I'm more concerned about RF from high power sources such as all the cell sites and 800/900 MHz sites out there. Fortunately distance is our friend.

You should be more concerned with radiation exposure from the sun, or any of hundreds of other natural radiation sources that you have no control over.

The local oscillator is going to be running a few milliwatts at most. Definitely detectable, definitely not strong enough to cause health problems. You can relax.

If that's your most serious health risk, life is good!

Please please please do not believe those nonsensical RF causes cancer websites.

They are insidious junk science, some of them are very well written too so they look like they may be factual.

The simple matter is, people do not want a cell tower where they can see it. These people are generally business people, attorneys etc, so they have effective communications ability and can construct some very good looking propaganda.

They scare people who don't know any better to ensure they don't have a radio tower they might have to look at. This is the same crowd that has the providers using those ridiculous fake tree camouflage setups on the towers.

The best part is, this same crowd are the ones with a phone in their ear all day long. It's a shame, but it's nothing new...manipulating the ignorant to create a hell storm of opposition for a hidden agenda.
