Glue Rubber Knob Covers onto Plastic Shafts
I have a couple of rubber knob covers that have come off of the plastic, well, sub-knobs? Not sure what to call them. (Radio is an old Yaesu FG-9600.) They aren't actually shafts, but the plastic part over the shaft.
I suppose I could mix some epoxy, but I don't know if that's the preferred way to go. One of them, the volume knob that has a concentric tone control ring, needs a little bit of gap fill. I removed the dried up glue that was underneath. The other knob is the VFO knob (probably the most desirable thing about the radio, as anyone who knows it well will attest) doesn't need as much gap filling. This whole thing reminds me of dental work - putting a crown onto the little nub of a drilled tooth.
Polygrip?
Shoe Goo?
I have several epoxies on hand, including JB Weld.
I don't want to use something that would cause the next owner of this radio to wish I had left well enough alone.
