Default AOR vs. UNIDEN

Hello, first off, welcome to Radioreference, for comparison on both handheld scanners go to the RR WIKI section & click on conventional scanners then go to AOR scanners to read reviews & specs on the AOR8200 MKIII, then go to digital scanners & click on Uniden to read the BCD396XTs reviews & specs. Here are the manufacturers websites to see additional information on these radios. In short order you shall start receiving replies to your post from members aquainted with both radios. Good luck & choose wisely.

Trunking is a big difference between them. So is P25 Digital audio capability.

Post Buying advice plz

You can try the AOR-ARD25 works with many AOR scanners, but at
$560.00 cdn, might be better off with a 396xt that can
do trunking. Also the AOR-ARD25 is just an add-on for APCO
Project 25. The 396xt has everything you need.

Note:
"Some words of caution - The ARD25 is not effective on systems
that use encryption or digital modulation other than APCO
Project 25. It cannot translate signals from receivers that
do not have a 10.7 MHz IF output, as the full channel
bandwidth is needed to convert the signal from digital to
analog. The ARD25 does not add trunking capabilities to
your receiver. Some jurisdictions may limit the use of devices
such as the ARD25"

Let's reverse engineer your question to:
what does the MK III have that the XT doesn't have?
  • NAM
  • WAM
  • CW
  • SSB
  • Voice Inverter
  • Audio Recorder
