Default Good evening

Hello all.

My name's Andy and I hail from Malvern in the UK Midlands. As seems to be good practice for a forum newbie I just thought I'd introduce myself.

My interest is scanning, and my current main interests lie between 430MHz and 470MHz as my local city is pretty active in this area.

I work in Military EMC engineering, so have a bit of an RF background, and I design and build antennas as a bit of a side-hobby. Currently using a home built 6 element LPDA for the band above. I also use a home built discone as a general wideband antenna.

I have a Bearcat 780XLT, a RS PRO2042, a GRE PSR285, an old AOR1000 that I've modded for discriminator O/P and a RS DX394 for when I feel like listening to the radio :-)

I dont know how many UK members you have, but there doesn't seem to be much like this in the UK. I'll probably hang around the techie / antenna groups mainly.

Thanks for listening to my rambling! Andy

Welcome to RR.com, Apache_UK. With your background you might be a valuable person to have around to answer questions. Speaking of answering question, if you have any, do not hesitate to ask...if you can get past our spelling of some words!

Nice of you to make the trip here. Enjoy.

Welcome Andy,
Nice to meet you and never worry about rambling, without it there would be no conversation.

Hi Andy, I'm your uncle Ernie and I welcome you to Tommy's Holiday Camp. The camp with a difference, never mind the weather, the holiday's forever.

"...if you can get past our spelling of some words!"
You can say that again. I'm always catching 'eck for my Americanisms to which I usually reply "There's no U in color!" or something similar. (;->)
