Default Aux. jack in my car question

I have been wondering this for a while but cant get a good answer, and dont want to ruin my scanner. I have a 2003 Honda Element, (great for moble monitoring), and by one of the 12v jacks, I have an aux. jack it is a 1/8 inch input----it is supposed to be for an mp3 player such as an I-pod. What would happen if I ran my scanner from my headphone jack into the aux. would it come through the stereo? Would I need an amplifier for my scanner or would the radio take care of it? I should say the stock stereo in the Element is great 270watts, with a sub-woofer! I was just curious if anybody else had ever tried this, my main reason for asking is that I dont want to ruin my scanner. Thanks for any help, Mike

Thanks for the reply Bill. I couldnt really think of a reason why it wouldnt work, just wanted a second opinion! I had actually looked at the Saturns before choosing the Honda (have had several Hondas---loved them all), really liked the VUE. I have a large dog and the Element seemed like a better fit.( plus my wife really likes it, that helps!) Thanks again for the reply, Mike

I bought a matching set of Awia CD players for my car & truck just for the 1/8 input. I use mine for my XM, but I have used it with my scanner & ham HT when I need more volume.

Thats what I am interested in also , more volume! As the owners of the Pro-92 know---the speaker is ok, but not great, which is why I want to run it through the stereo. (I know just get a mobile!) Thanks for the input! Mike
