Default Pro95 Software: Scancat Lite Plus

Hi everyone,

I'm new to scanning and just bought my first scanner: RadioShack Pro95. RadioShack programmed my radio before I left the store. I saw that they were using a software package called Scancat Lite Plus ($29 + $5 s&h from www.scancat.com).

Has anyone used this software before? Any comments or recommendations? I heard most people talked about Win95 on this website but have not heard of SCancat Lite Plus before.

Thanks

Here is another reason to avoid scancat lite. The RS store where I bought my Pro 95 last Thursday used scancat lite also, and programmed the wrong Fayetteville NC trunking info. So my first trunking scanner didn't work.

I used Don Starr's Win95 program and the freq chart here to load the correct trunking info and all is well. Thanks to Don & the folks here.

I wrote a review of Scancat Lite Plus; it's posted on the Strong Signals website. The problem isn't quite necessarily with the software as with the data they use - in some cases (like the one above) it's not accurate. Whoever is populating the source over at National Electronics needs to know that things can and do change, and that if you're going to marry a data source and program, both must be up to date, or you're not serving the scanner community very well.

Yep, stick with Win95 and data you find here - you'll be much better off.

I agree with the others Win95 is the best and it is so easy to use. In addition it is free. Yes free can't beat that.

I have used scancatlite on my pro95 and sc200 scanner, on the pro-95 there were several glitches. one of them was after downloading my data to the scanner all the unused channels were locked up where icould not use the "copy to channel" or "copy to bank" function without first manually clearing each channel by hand on the scanner. also a copy function in the program itself would not let my copy data from my database to scancat's program past a certain cahannel, that was fixed by a download from jim springer. on the sc200 and the pro 95 l/o, delay, and text had no control or garbled text, One time I had to manually check each channel for proper set up, steps I wanted to get away from by purchasing the program. Not peticularly thrilled with all the problems, probably would not purchase again. scannerdweeb.
