Default EBAY goin NUTS!

I have been bidding on some radios this weekend and ebay is ending auctions left and right. I was bidding on a icom r7000 and a yupiteru mvt7100. both were ended and i was sent a email from ebay indicating that they were illegal. The weird thing about it was none of the auctions advertised full 800mhz coverage. I guess ebay is labeling certain models as a NO GO auction. Just thought i would let all know that ebay is gettin crazy strict.

Are you sure that those weren't fraudulent auctions? The fraudsters used to like just auctioning laptops and high end Apple computers but now it looks like they like taking random high-dollar auctions they find and trying to sell the same thing.

Default gaps

All scanners manufactured today have breaks in their frequency range in the 800 band for the frequencies that analog cell phones operate on. This is due to the ECPA, a law that, among other things, makes it illegal to monitor cell phone traffic. As I understand it though, most of today's cell phone technology uses higher bands, like above 1 gHz.

I had problems selling my HR2600 on Ebay. I tried to dispute the cancelled auction and just got a reply that "the FCC says this radio is susceptible to modification". They say that is enough to ban the sale of the radio on their site.

I applaud them for "Trying" to do thing right, but I think they are over critical.

BTW, I sold the mic, box, manual, cord and mounting bracket for a good price so I threw the radio in on the deal for free. :-)

There should be no issues selling these radios on eBay, as both are grandfathered in under the old FCC rules. The auctions were most likely ended for other reasons.

Many times, if anyone writes to ebay making what even SOUNDS LIKE a legitament complaint against a particular auction, ebay will yank it. Kind of a "better safe than sorry" situation. I think ebay should do perform a more thorough investigation of the item and comfirm the "suspicion" themselves; but apparently they don't have the manpower or inclination to do so and that does suck.

I personally had on two seperate occasions had auction items ie no gap scanners yanked.
I was warned the first time, and being stubborn listed a similar item, and was banned for 90 days. After 90 days I was required to reapply for membership, and pledge I would not in the future disobey policy.
Read ebay policy on scanner equipment and it will be clear.
Also ebay doesn't allow the sale of "hi capacity" firearms magazines, in many states they are unlawful to posess. Therefore they are not allowed.

EBAY:
Scanners: Generally, scanning receivers and radios may be listed on eBay. However, members may not list any scanning receiver or radio that receives cellular transmissions or has "full 800mz" coverage.

Firearms:does not permit the sale of any parts or accessories prohibited for sale by federal or California law, including items related to short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles, fully automatic weapons, LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINES, multi-burst trigger activators and camouflaging firearm containers.

No one has reported them.
If someone does, they will be "yanked".
