All are invited to the ARRL Field Day 2009, a worldwide exercise of wireless communications skill and interoperability by amateur radio operators. Come join the Lockheed Martin Employee Amateur Radio Club, W4LMA and Radio Amateur Volunteers, WC4RAV at Field Day 09 @ GLERC this Saturday June 27th from 1000A to Sunday at 12:00PM.
Event setup starts at 1000 on Saturday, operating begins at 1400 and goes throughout the night. Operations conclude on Sunday until 1200 at which time tear down is scheduled. We will have snacks, drinks and Williamson Bros. BBQ around 1700 on Saturday.
ALL ARE WELCOME and are invited to see true interoperability in action. No network? No trunking system? No problem, amateur radio works not just because it's flexible, but because of the people who make it happen. Come out and see why, and you too can become an amateur radio operator.
Our Field Day site is indoors at the GLERC building located at 85 Walker Street, Marietta, GA. From I-75, exit at Delk Road, Walker Street is just south of Fairground. Turn at the light, the GLERC building is on the right before the main gate. (NOTE: Firearms and alcohol are prohibited on Lockheed property, Lockheed security and DARB security police have jurisdiction.)
Talk-in on the W4LMA repeater, 145.49 (-) PL tone 67.0Hz. (this is a local repeater so you have to be fairly close to get into it.)
I will also be monitoring the W4OO UHF repeater on 444.975 (+) PL tone 100.0Hz and for GMRS users, I am also on North Georgia GMRS, unit ID RAV149, call WQJU329. Will be on the Pine Log repeater for those needing directions.
I encourage all hams to bring a prospective non-ham, everyone is welcome! Amateur radio is not just a hobby, it is a valuable communications tool that works when nothing else does. Come see for yourself.
See you there,
Erik N4XTS
