Default Another Atlanta P25 Help post.

Well I finally made it up to Atlanta this 4 of July weekend. I have the 996T (3.00.2) mounted in my car running off a MaxRad 1000-B and I also brought my 396XT w/RS800. The first thing I noticed on the drive into town, I was able to pull the Fulton Co. Mot II system about 40 miles out on I-85. As for the new Atlanta P-25 system, I really didn’t get a descent signal until I was inside the 285 beltway.

Once I got to my folks house and I had the time, I decided to do some heavy monitoring. One thing I noticed on both radios was, the signal was all over the place. Unlike the older Atlanta MOTII & Fulton Co. system which always gave my 5 full bars the P25 was up and down. The transmissions come through clear one minute and garbled the next. I do notice that the 396XT does a better job on Atlanta and a huge improvement on the Cobb P-25 systems.

Has anyone come up with a good setting such as AGC, P25 threshold, etc for both the 396XT and the 996T to try and improve the reception? I know the system is Simulcast but any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 396T and have noticed significant reduction in reception since upgrading the firmware. I get the same problem with the inconsistent signal strength. It seems like you have to be parked right under a repeater to actually hear something.
